HOUSTON-(February 7, 2006)- Rick's Cabaret International,
Inc. [NASDAQ:RICK],
says it anticipates a record business volume at its Club Onyx gentlemen's
club during the NBA All-Star 2006 Week in Houston
from February 13-20. The company's Rick's Cabaret
and XTC Cabaret nightclubs in Houston are also
expected to benefit from increased traffic during the week leading
up to the NBA All-Star game.
Since its opening in 2004 in the Galleria shopping
district as an upscale cabaret catering to urban businessmen and
professionals, Club Onyx (3113 Bering Drive at Richmond) has been
a favorite nightspot of Houston sports fans and athletes.
"Club Onyx has attracted professional athletes by the dozens
since we opened," according to Eric Langan,
President and CEO of Rick's. "They like being in an environment
where the other customers give them plenty of space and don’t
hassle them for autographs."
Mr. Langan said the company believes it will show a significant
revenue increase for the Houston clubs in February as a result of
the NBA All-Star activities, adding that Rick's Cabaret clubs in
Houston "did very well when Houston hosted the Super
Bowl XXXVIII and the MLB All-Star Game
in 2004, and we anticipate doing as well or better during the NBA
week since basketball fans are great customers and Toyota
Center is only a 10 minute drive from the club."
NBA All-Star week is a weeklong basketball extravaganza culminating
in the annual all-star game on Sunday, February 19th that will pack
Toyota Center and be seen by a worldwide television audience that
reaches more than 200 countries.
Club Onyx was launched after the company's management decided to
take its highly successful upscale gentlemen's format into one of
the fastest growing but underserved demographic segments –
the universe of highly successful and increasingly affluent urban
males. The club opened June 10, 2004 at the remodeled 12,800 square
foot site of the original Rick's Cabaret nightclub.
